About Us

Ducati ProTeam was formed in early 2003 as Alec Short realised there was a gap in the market for a specialist Ducati workshop and service centre that could provide a high level of service for the customer whilst ensuing costs were kept to realistic levels. Ducati's at this time were firmly at the forefront with regards to WSB and BSB and with new generations of Ducati's coming through it made sense to establish DPT. Alec has had many years experience of not just owning Ducati's but also working with them hands on, below is a brief history of Alec which will hopefully give you an insight into exactly what makes him and DPT tick.

Alec has spent the majority of his life working in and around engines of all shapes and sizes, from his early days working as a Marine Engineer for BP on a variety of large ships including Super Tankers, below is a picture of a ship that Alec served on in the late 70's.

In the early 90's Alec worked for GR Ducati as head technician on various Ducati's and around this time Alec took his first foray into the world of motorsport as a Race Technician in BSB and the odd WSB event.

In the late 90's Alec was part of the Generace Team that ran initially in the Aprilia RS 250 Challenge and ultimately within British Championship events with Peter Graves and David Jeffries. The headliner for this team was none other than Star Wars star Ewan Mc.Gregor who came onboard to raise the teams profile and to enjoy being part of an exciting new team such as Generace. Alec was team principle and together the team enjoyed many success's, below is a picture of Alec (in the middle of the back row) and some of the team members.
